About: Alec Sullivan
Alec Sullivan is a Composer and Multi-Instrumentalist currently based in Richmond Virginia. He has a B.A. in music from Virginia Commonwealth University and has studied under Doug Richards, Wells Hanley, Paul Rucker, and David Toussaint.
As a Composer, he has premiered works in contrasting styles in both Jazz, Classical and Experimental Music idioms. In addition to performing his own compositions, he has given an hour long composition recital featuring works for Jazz Big Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Various Chamber Ensembles. He has also written for local chamber group; "The Noir Octet"
As a performer, Alec Sullivan regularly performs in the greater Richmond area primarily as a guitarist, electric bassist, vocalist, and pianist. He has performed many venues including The Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA), Hardywood Brewery, C'est Le Vin, Perch , and The Jefferson Hotel. He has also performed with Paul Rucker's Ensemble at "Festival at the River," and various student recitals.
In addition to his work with musicians, Alec Sullivan has participated in Cross disciplinary Collaborations with multiple artists including Noah Velez (Visual Artist), Andrew Salsbury (Poet), Marsell Chavarria (Dancer) and Chingi Chang (Dancer).
